I went to the Skyline-Southlake game at SMU last night. Skyline was up 24-14 with less than 2 minutes left, only to have Southlake drive for a TD, recover an onside kick, and drive for the winning TD.
Thomas Johnson had a good night with a number of catches and one TD. He had a shot at another one, but the pass was behind him, which hung him out for a big lick from the DB. He had one short reception that he turned into a big gain with a sweet move that left the defender flatfooted. Not a bad punter, either.
Peter Jinkens is long and lean and will need a redshirt year to build up. He lined up at DE and used outside speed rushes to cause trouble in the backfield. I believe he actually registered two sacks, but there were a number of other pressures. I'll be interested to see what Manny does with him.
I felt sorry for the Skyline kids last night. They had the game in hand to the point that some Southlake fans were leaving. They were visibly crushed when they let it get away.
