pest problems(mice and mosquitos)

Moved into a new house more or less in the country. Inevitably, we have a few visitors we don't want.

First are the mice. Little tiny gray mice. I trapped three on a 4x4 or so glue trap in the garage. They were living in and around a bunch of crap we had in our garage. More important, have at least three in our kitchen. Caught two in the island and the cleaning lady saw one in the trash compacter. I'll get him easy enough,. but when should I feel comfortable with the ones insde the house being gone? I figure we'll always have them outside and to an extens in the garage. The house is pretty tight except when the kids leave something open.

Next are the mosquitos. We are close to a lake, sort of. Figure we'll have them, but have them inside the house, specifically in the bedroom. Whicha can relaly suck. Can't see any standing water inside the house or in close proximity, but they are coming from somewhere.

Any ideas? Thoughts?

For mice, keep setting traps. Set lots. Don't use poison. Try to figure out where they're coming in.
You can hire someone to go through and under your house and seal up all the holes. If you try to do this yourself, don't underestimate how small of a hole they can get through.

It's time you paid the piper.
Remove all standing water, can work wonders on mosquitos.
Put up a purple martin house-they eat lots of mosquitos, but only arrive in the spring.
