I can't believe anybody could be offended by this. Perry is simply telling the truth. The Spartans allowed gays in their military and how did that turn out? Does Sparta have a seat on the UN Security Council, like straight America does?

No! Why? Because Sparta no longer exists because it offended God.

I used to celebrate Christmas every year with my family but we cannot do so anymore because of Obama and his muslim cabinet. Have you seen any Christmas ornaments lately? Heard any Christmas music? There isn't any anymore because of Obama.

Next thing you know they are going to outlaw bestiality and torture and other campus hijinks that make the Aggie experience so exceptional.

But you teasips wont care. You will be too busy being politically correct and finding fault with real Americans. Like Rick Perry.
 
I don't think it was so much an attack on allowing gays in the military (or an attack on just being gay). I think it was stating that if we're open to new ideas, then why are some ideas (like celebrating Christmas or whatever) squashed?

It was a weak attempt to pander to idiots (well, like himself) who associate the term "gay" with anti-American or anti-Christian values. And this is why he (or anyone like Rick) will never get elected.
 
314 you're missing the point. The idea here is that if there is a GOP candidate, he MUST reflect a large portion of the GOP regardless of his position in the polls. Whether conservatives are actually going to vote for him (and indications are that they won't) doesn't matter in this case, because it's just assumed that he MUST speak for conservatives.

It's funny... all the "crazies" and "loonies" have dropped to the bottom of the polls. Each had their moment, but as the people found out more about them and had a chance to properly vet them, they dropped off the radar. The only people who care about Rick Perry at this point are the liberals desperately trying to portray him as the flag-bearers for the Republican party.
 
What ProdigalHorn said. I'm a pretty conservative/libertarian guy. The only thing I knew about Perry before he got into the race was that he was an Aggy, the governor of Texas, and most on the Longhorn sports boards despised him. When he jumped in, I hadn't made up my mind one way or the other to support him. However, after seeing his first speech and first debate, I quickly realized what many on here were saying. He is an idiot.

I often cringe when I hear the national media types disparage most conservative leaders as idiots. It often seems like a template - especially given the fact that Obama's daily gaffes are completely ignored. In this case, the media types got it right. He doesn't seem very intelligent.
 
Some political managers must think this is the way to appeal to Republican voters...it amazes me. I don't think Bachman or Gingrich are idiots, although I don't care for their philosophy.
But Perry-he's an idiot.
Really, gay bashing and a "war on religion?" Incredible. What, is Obama running around burning down churches and a shredding Christmas trees? I must have missed that somehow.
 
So you really think Joe Barton and Rick Perry want clean air -- I mean other than what happens by accident after it rains?
 
They don't "want" dirty air, they just know that the earth was put here by God for man's consumption until it runs out of resources, like clean air. And Newt doesn't seem to have a problem with child labor, so...
 
This ad is getting a lot of press, and they say that any publicity is good for a candidate. Is this what Perry's staff had in mind?
Maybe that's the strategy, but I hope it backfires on him.
 
I read this was the most viewed and linked video on the web yesterday. Pretty soon Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan are going to be talking to the Perry team about how they, too, can be subject to more embarrassing publicity.
 
Oh that's right, they won't because they still want the bigot vote.
