Or the rehab that we'll also probably pay for so they can legally get back on welfare. The idea that if I have to take a test to get a job then they should have to do the same to get my money isn't bad. The problem is that the govt will still figure any way possible to make sure they get the money anyway. It's pointless.
Sounds good. Does nothing. Florida already tried this and spent millions in the courts to defend the constitutionality of the measure. Subsequent data from the state found there was no direct savings, snared an incredibly tiny number of drug users and had no impact on the number of applications.
Simply put, it's another ploy to pander to the masses without actually addressing any real issues. The War on Drugs is a colossal failure and this is just another way to duck the issue and pretend to be doing something without actually doing a thing except making Big Government bigger.
