Perpendicular or parallel?

I'm finished with my joists on the front porch I am building:

Should I put my decking perpendicular to the house or parallel?

Parallel would be a lot easier, but perpendicular would be easier to cut matching the curve of the sidewalk. thoughts?

Decking can't be parallel to the joists. I'm not even sure how this would be possible to install.

I'm picking up what you're throwing down.

However, I was unclear in my post. Sorry about that.

I meant parallel or perpendicular to the house.

Perpendicular to the house would be harder because i'd have to put blocking between the joists every 18" or so.

I"m thinking about doing this because decking that is perpendicular to the house would be easier to cut to match the curve of the sidewalk.

Hey, I can't see your buiding permit in that picutre . . .

You didn't ask, but isn't that too close to the ground? We had a section or deck that had joists pretty much on the ground and it rotted out big time. If the picture is misleading or you are gonna flip the house-carry on.

Well, almost four months later, my lazy self finally finished this project. In the spring I will stain it...

So we had almost two inches of ice Tuesday-Wednesday. So I put the last ballisters on Sunday. A 40-foot poplar fell on it. But it was not damaged. Ice storms suck.
