Penn's Oscars comment

So I grew up in Mexico so I'm always excited when a Mexican wins something (because they never win anything)... but Penn's comment about the green card got some heave twitter responses. I didn't really give a **** about it, but it obviously bothered Inarritu... It's a sensitive subject for many, but considering that Penn is a flipping Commie and he supports Castro, Chavez (Maduro), and pretty much anyone Socialist, I didn't think it was ill intentioned, just stupid...

So without making it a west mall argument, did anyone actually feel angry that a Mexican won again? Does it feel undeserved and just a petty gimme because of the current political situation? I feel that if an Italian wins it, or anyone not mexican, then its cool and it goes unnoticed, but I read comments last night where people resent the fact that a Mexican won... Why is that?

Inaritu has been putting out top of the class work for a while and I am glad he won, though I also liked Boyhood.

Of greater interest to me was the second consecutive award for his cinematograper, Immanuel Luzbeki, who is far and away the best craftsman working in the film world today.

I have no problem with foreigners winning anything. As for Mexico, I think of them as our brothers and am happy to see anything that cheers them up. The country has a tragic history and a hideous joke for a government. Like the old USSR, they are not a poor country but rather a country that is run poorly. Historically. The most important man in our early history was George Washington. In theirs, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. They have never really recovered.

I wish all Mexican immigrants brought as much to our country as Inaritu does. Or even a bit of it. Great man.
