Who says no to that deal- San Diego or Houston.

Keep in mind he wants out, SD said they are going to move him and he has about 5 teams (of which houston is one) that he said he's willing to pitch for (he's got a full no trade so he'd have to sign off on any deal and he said no way to the beer league.)

Can't see SD going for it because Rodriguez is an average ML pitcher at best. The Astros have nothing in their farm system, so that's meaningless. So it's Pence and Rodriguez for Peavy... mostly Pence.

I'd probably do it if I were the Astros. They need a legitimate SP in the worst way.

Would hate to see Pence go but you can get a free agent outfielder a lot easier than you can a pitcher the status of Peavy.

might be better to pick up penny from free agency, rather than losing pence. i know he had a bad yr last yr, but season before we was 16-4 with around a 3 era. pence is close to franchise in my book.
