Peggy Noonan - 'Newt is a human hand grenade'

actually, she developed a following among libs for all those speeches she wrote for Reagan and for her memoir What I Saw at the Revolution, which was very revealing about the Reagan white house.

As for Newt, he is living proof of what a douche Jim Wright was. Wright was so rude and arrogant that it drove republicans in the House to support the bomb throwing Newt was doing on CSPAN at night. He became a hero just for ridding the House of Wright, almost singlehandedly it seemed at the time. The fact that he was a human handgrenade only became obvious later and he was ushered from the room after his petulant and politically destructive shutting down of the government after the Clinton plane incident.

He is the most articulate guy in this bunch but what he articulates is sort of goofy and he changes positions more often than quicksilver on a turntable.

But DC these days is a sinkhole of mediocrity and worse, so he looks and sounds ok to a lot of people.

It would actually be kind of entertaining to watch him at the controls again: answer to the question "what if Casey Jones had a son who threw a lot of temper tantrums and had no interests in railroad safety?"
 
I agree with what Huisache said. The pickings are so slim that many of us are resigned to choosing between a liberal and a fake conservative to run against Obama.
