PC Modem Card

The wife will be traveling about town. However, she will be splitting time between two jobs.

She has come to the conclusion that she will probably have to use the laptop to check her mail on the go. AT&T/Cingular (her current mobile service) has a PC modem card that will help her check her mail for a monthly fee/based on MB. However, can she check her mail with such accounts as Road Runner and Goggle using this service on her laptop? What other accounts can she use?

And what is the difference between this service compared to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth technology?

Any other suggestions whould be great.

I have a card and I like it. I travel all over the place as I'm in sales. Yes she VPN into her work and check that email as if she wired at home or the office. Yes she can check ANY web based email Google/Yahoo/Hotmail, etc. Yes she can check her RR account, assuming she knows her password and user name (TWCRR provides web access and you always use another service like mailstop).

is it like WiFi, yes and no. it's woreless but differnet technology. WiFI is about being wireless on you LAN (please don't nitpick other techies) versus a PC Modem a.k.a. G3 card being a a cellphone modem for a laptop.

Bluetooth is about lower power radio freq for devices, usually for things like a printer or PDA or headset for your mobile phone/device.

you can get a Bluetooth printer for the house/home office or you can get a WiFi printer, me? I went WiFi printer. All my PC are WiFi enabled, along with the work machine having a G3 cad too.

did this help?
