PayPal and NC bathroom law

PayPal is so outraged and offended by the NC bathroom law that does not allow people to choose a different gendered restroom that PP is withdrawing their plans to locate a center in Charlotte.
PP has so far not commented on the way homosexuals are treated (beheading or shot) in countries where PP does business like Saudi Arabia or Somalia. PP also announced plans to do biz in Cuba well known for their stellar treatment of anyone who disagrees with the Castros.
Wonder if liberals will boycott PP for double standard (sarc)

There would be a double standard if PayPal (a) sets up headquarters in Saudi Arabia, Somalia, or Cuba, or (b) refuses to do business in North Carolina. There is no double standard so long as PayPal does business anywhere, but declines to locate centers in places that have unacceptable (to them) urinary and defacatory policies.

For what it's worth, I think the decision is silly. But it isn't a double standard.

Actually, the really interesting thing about businesses wanting to boycott North Carolina is that they will argue that continuing to boycot Cuba will be an ineffective way to bring about change. It seems as though North Carolina should just wait them out and let greed prevail in the long run.

This is a weak argument - even by your lofty standards. NC can enact whatever laws they choose. Businesses (and individuals) can respond any way they want. That is how America works.

You liberals crack me up. The OP's point is PYPL (-2.4%) does business in countries where homosexuality is illegal and the penalty is death. They also take money from organizations that support the death penalty for homosexuals. But a bathroom law is a bridge too far for their sensibilities?

Oh oh, but but...offices and Carolina and...

I don't know about your children, but mine will know the difference between unimpeachable character, the only real character worth cultivating, and superficially deciding when something is important to them.

Mine won't. I'm a liberal --- so my children will be deviants who want to sneak in to the bathroom and watch you while you pee. You may want to have your gun ready...

Paypal has a center in Malaysia which imprisons homosexuals. You would think PP or any biz that is acting so righteous would understand the word consistency.
I expect the LGBTQ etc group to call PP out on this.

NJ
thanks. Very stand up of you.
imprisoning is certainly a harsher reality than wanting people to use their biological gender's bathrooms.
If there weren't creeps that will abuse it I think it wouldn't matter.
But I can understand how it can make females uncomfortable.

Classy. Children watching a man in the bathroom and getting shot...

You are a sick depraved little $#^%. And your posts have the intellectual rigor of a junior-high English paper.

No wonder why people trying to raise kids in today's world are wondering what the hell is wrong with the left.

The governor's of Georgia and South Dakota vetoed similar bills, not because they don't agree with the bills, but because they don't want to lose potential tax revenue from loss of businesses, which could cause loss of jobs, which could cause loss of votes. In other words, their just looking out for number one.

You have to admire NC's backbone at the moment. But, I'll bet the law is repealed very shortly. They're Arizona holding out on declaring MLK day a holiday. A few more PayPal's and people will start to grumble and that'll be that.

And, yes, PayPal is hypocritical. If the winds of public sentiment were blowing the other way in the U.S., they wouldn't give it a thought. It's free publicity and makes them look like they really, really care.

It's amazing how shamelessly full of **** these corporations can be. PayPal is the shadiest company that I have ever dealt with and now all of the sudden they are sooooooo conscientious. LMAO!

I would think PayPal would even more want to place their office in NC so they could publicly state "we will only have gender neutral bathrooms in our new NC office."

Broader question is whether they used this as an excuse to scale back expansion that perhaps is questionable in the current economy. The only way, IMO, that they can truly 'justify' the decision is if they turn around and expand with a new facility or substantial expansion of current facilities somewhere else. If they don't do that, then this was all grandstanding on their part...
