Pat Summit Family Gathering as End Nears

Not sure that I have posted the link correctly. Sorry if I have not. The PR firm representing Coach Summitt's family has released a statement that she has had a some rough days and that her family and former players have gathered and have been told to "prepare for the worst".

Many of us have been through this with our own loved ones. Thoughts and prayers to Coach and her family and the Big Orange Nation. She won her first title at the Erwin Center by routing La Tech. She was a pioneer in the Women's game, along with Jody. Anyone who questioned or may still question the correctness of Title IX, need look no further that those two.

May your end be peaceful and your judgement merciful.

I watch the game because of her. I thought I was ready but I wasn't. Gone to soon.

Sporting my Lady Vol gear with my black business suit today. Traded my burnt orange for TN Orange today and the rest of the week. Man I can't believe she's gone. So glad I traveled to TN in 2012 to watch her coach one last time and they won the SEC championship.

I spent a lot of time pulling against Tennessee over the years (of course), but I really did admire Pat. Not only for what she brought to the game but, man, 100% graduation rate says a lot about a coach. I remember her being the first coach I'd ever heard of dismissing a very important player from the team over broken rules. She set very high standards and wouldn't compromise integrity. She will be sorely missed by the sports world... in fact, she already has been. RIH Pat.
