Pat Summerall dies at 82

A truly great broadcasting legend has passed away. Man he's called some great games in his career.

Summeral was terrific. Guy was a jock, but he had a Masters in Russian History. I don't know why, but sometimes when he was a little off (I guess it was so rare) that I can still hear the comments in my mind. Once he was talking about Vikings tight end Stu Voight and his knack of getting open "like he comes up out of the ground."

Another time the other voice in the booth was gushing about Jim Jensen, a Cowboys Gil Brandt special -- a prospect with the build of a fullback but speed like a track star. Jensen then took a kickoff and got smashed at about the 15. "He may be fast, but he''s not very nifty" was the Summeral comment, and the muscle bound sprinter was not seen returning kicks again.
