pat knight let go

No big surprise as Tech has completely fallen off the face of the earth. While he doesnt seem to be as big of an ******* as his dad he is also not the coach his dad is.

I wonder if they go after Billy Gillispie. Wouldnt be a bad choice.

Aggy is praying tech doesn't hire BCG...They would rather him stay out of TX and the big 12, lol

Maybe schools will stop letting "legendary coaches" dictate exit terms, such as "you must hire my son as the next head coach."

Sutton.

Knight.

Nepotism is not a good thing.

I loved Pat Knight's quotes in a DMN article over the weekend: "I have proven I can coach." Actually, no Pat, you have proven nothing of the sort. Your teams have sucked.

So in an effort to help his son again, does BK leave broadcasting, find another schlub school with red colors and take over there for a few years and then hand off to his son?

Yeah, what a shock. It will be interesting to see where the guy lands. I'm thinking a mid-level school might take a chance but no way a school in a major conference hires him.

Never having been a head coach and then taking over mid-season in a power conference was a death trap from day one. Its like when the Mavericks hired Quinn Buckner. WTF? I mean if you need a dentist, you go to a dentist, not someone who knows a dentist. If you need a head coach you hire a head coach, not someone who knows a head coach. Same thing happened at DePaul with Joey Meyer taking over from his father. Three years in they were going 4-24 and had moved games back to campus as ticket sales wouldn't pay the electric bill at the Rosemont Horizon.

I heard on Randy Galloway talk radio yesterday that Pat K called UT Arlington after his firing and asked the UTA Athletic Director for the head coaching job.

Only problem is that the job is not vacant. The coach has not been in trouble, and took UTA to the NCAA tourney two years ago.

Apparently, it is a big time no-no to pursue a job that a fellow coach still holds. Galloway was shocked and surprised by Knight's aggressive move.

UTA confirmed the validity of the story.

It wouldn't shock me to see him end up at a division 2 school somewhere in Texas. Thats basically the team he's been fielding at Tech anyway.

ive got a church league team he can coach. it doesnt pay well but he would get free orange slices at the half time of games and brownies afterward.
