Pat, just write a song called Texas Music sucks

I don't know the song, but I read the lyrics you posted, and I find it ironic that the only singer he referenced with less talent than himself was Toby Keith. Homeboy might not want to drop(kick) names of a bunch of folks who can run circles around him and STILL suck (or not, depending on the reference).

I don't know Pat Green beyond the intimate gigs he used to play at George's in Waco, but perhaps it's a tongue in cheek statement along the lines of Brad Paisley's "Celebrity". Then again, perhaps not.

That's, uh, a Nickelback song with some words changed. I will now listen to Three Days and thank you to never speak of this again.

I feel superior in that I barely know who this Pat Green fellow is.

Texas music always has been, and always will be, Willie Nelson and Asleep at the Wheel.

tongue in cheek it could be... oh well. that'd make me feel better. but how can you even joke that Texas women are ugly? ludicrous.

texanne, they are most certainly the center of the Texas music universe. les not forget gary p. nunn. =)

The new album has a re-cut of "Carry On". He replaced the line "Come down to Texas and drink with me a while" to "Come down to my place and drink we me a while". He's dead to me.

Three Days was okay, Wave on Wave had one good song ("Run"), and everything since has been absolute crap. I've never described it as "selling out", he's just not good anymore.

I am now dumber for having read those lyrics.

I don't know any Pat Green songs, but if that is quality of his songwriting, then.. wow.

The irony is that he's been such a bad sell out, failing to hit it big with Nashville and losing his Texas fan base in the process.

With that said, I don't think he has consciously attempted to sell out. He did not decide "I'm going to change my music to sell more records." His life just changed and what inspired his early music -- youth, love, heart ache, struggle and failure -- disappeared. It happens to a lot of Artists. Their success makes life easier and takes away the muse which made them successful in the first place.

Sounds like he writes a lot of songs that could be called Pat Green sucks

He was my camp counselor one summer when I was about 15. Nice guy, but was pretty obnoxious about Tech.

I saw the Dane Cook of country music play at some ******** in Lubbock about 10 years ago and again at Billy Bob's a few years later. At the Lubbock show he was wearing a t-shirt that said "**** Nashville." A friend of a friend explained it to me. After the show I couldn't figure out what ever made him think he could do mainstream country music. He didn't have the voice or a vocal hook. He couldn't play the guitar that well. His songs sounded like he was re-writing REK's stuff from 15-20 years earlier. Aside from that, the guy was just generally a douche on stage.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt when I let a group of friends talk me into to going with them to see him at Billy Bob's. Same douchebag, different day.
