My cousin is coming for the austin marathon in february and wants to have a pasta party at a good italian restaurant in austin. not sure if price is an issue but i do think she is a serious runner so she might just be doing good pasta at a cool/good place. i mean, how expensive can pasta be? any suggestions? thanks in advance

I think TreeHouse Grill has a better selection of good, traditional pastas than any restaurant in town. Carmelo's might be a bit better, but without the broad selection. Vespaio is good, too, but I don't think they take reservations, so that could be a problem. Bellagio is terrific, but not pasta-centric. (Did I say that?)

La Traviata on Congress is good. I had the rigatoni with lamb meatballs and it was my favorite pasta dish ever. They have a different ravioli every day I think. I think the pasta entree was about $15? And it's a cute little place.

Try the new place that is where Mueller's BBQ was and then El Gringo. Manor Rd.
