Passport question

What are the odds if i make an appointment in at the HOuston passport agency of getting my passport the same day? I have an appt on the 18th and i need it by the 19th. I've read that it is possible, just not guaranteed.

As an aside, I plan on going to the Radiohead shows in Vancouver and Seattle. Do I NEED the passport if i'm not arriving in Vancouver by air? i've seen conflicting information on this.

I believe you do need a valid passport to get into Canada.

What someone else said. To drive into/out of Canada you currently only need a certified copy of your birth certificate and a government issued ID. The law changing it to passports was supposed to go into effect on 1/1/08. It has been delayed until 7/1/09. I bet it gets delayed again.

Nacho, if your appointment is in the morning, you should get it the same day. I had to do that in December last year. I was there early afternoon, and they told me I'd have to pick it up the next day because I missed the same-day cutoff. I want to say it was around 11:30.
