Parking at the Cotton Bowl

This will be my first trip driving up. I'm aware of the "leave the hotel and at least 3 hours before" rule to avoid the really bad traffic, but I would like to know the parking situation. Have any suggestions from prior experience?

Take I35 South past the MLK exit. In fact go a couple of exits past MLK and get off. You will avoid a ton of traffic this way. Then go East to 2nd Ave and take it North to the Fair Grounds. Turn right before the Fair Grounds and follow the arrows to the Fair parking. Two hours before game time, you should be able to find parking. Otherwise you will need to park in one of the lots West of the Fair Grounds and hope the person blocking you in arrives before you do when you leave.

From Austin, day of the game I would:

IH35 towards Dallas
Exit East (right on 635/I20)
Go to 175 CF Hawn
Take 175 to Dallas
Exit Second Avenue
Take Second Right to the Fair
Park

No Traffic.

Parking is easy. You will never feel threatened, or that your car would ever be stolen or vandalized. Fair Park is a wonderful area of Dallas. Just lovely.

And if it looks like a homeless man taking money to let you park in an empty field or parking lot, it probably is. Only give him money if you are ok with returning to an empty parking space and trying to figure out where your car was towed. I've heard that story told many times.

75 south to I-45 south, all signs say take I-30 and everybody does, go I-45 south, exit MLK. You will hit a little traffic downtown as everyone hits I-30 but once you get past there,no traffic. Turn left on MLK and park at HS on your right, about a 5 minute walk to fairgrounds.
