Parents visiting. What to do?

Good activities with visiting parents? My dad already said that the Salt Lick must be included on any and all itineraries. What else?

Last time they visited we did the tourist thing with the Capitol and Bullock Museum. I'd like to do something more memorable this time.

Blanton is open.

The Pecan Street Festival is this weekend also.

Lady Bird's Wildflower Center is cool.

Take them to see the bats - bats are neat...

Seriously, one of the nights go on one of those cheap *** bat-seeing cruises, then go to dinner. It's really a pretty neat way to see Austin (you get to see a little more than just the bats), PLUS there seem to be more bats this year than in recent years. I took my grandma a couple months ago and she is still talking about it to everyone all the time, apparently.

Seriously, the bat thing is good for just about all ages.

my mom is in town and we're doing all the "austin things"

last night we went to the Oasis. I know, I know. However, my mom LOVES this place. Not the food, just the place itself. Weather was perfect last night.

Family always seem to love this place in my experience

Damn good day. Lunch at the new Italian market in the Triangle, and then the Blanton. Caught an IMAX across the street, then off to the Salt Lick with a cooler of beer. Driving back, it happened to be 8:00 so I swung into the Statesman parking lot just in time to see the bats fly from Congress Street.

My folks were pretty blown away and couldn't stop talking about how great Austin is. Nice work, y'all.
