Panicked Dems Try to Save NY-9 (Weiner's Seat)

Looks like the special election for Rep. Anthony Weiner's congressional seat, to be held Tuesday, is up for grabs. It was thought this was a rock-solid Democratic district that would be won by any candidate the Dems put forward. But not so fast. Polling has the Republican candidate leading by six points and people in the district are very angry about the direction the country is headed, just like so many of the rest of us are.
This race will be regarded by many as a sneak preview of what is to come in November 2012, just 14 months from now.

This is less about the Dems and more about incumbency. I believe lots of incumbents will be challenged in 2012 primaries and many will not be sent back to DC.

I know people like to bag on Tea Partiers, but they will be taking out a lot of "go along to get along Rs". Big turnover coming in 2012, White House included.

You're right, gecko, but why post that without throwing in at least one obvious, juvenile Weiner pun? Don't let me hang as the only one to stoop to that level.

I mean, the juxtaposition of Weiner's seat and "tea-baggers" is just rife with possibilities. Go for it!

I think the Tea Partiers will continue to put up their candidates even if they are going to lose. There is a no compromise air about the Tea Party. It will hurt some but in the long run it is going to make a big difference, not sure if it will be good or bad but we will find out.

It is definately a time for a change in DC out with all the old Republicans and old Democrats, change them all!!!!!

I would call on my friends on the left to change out all their candidates and elected officials as well!!! Let's clean house, I think that is one thing we can all compromise on!!!!

gecko is spot on.

Two really hard votes stand up in my mind, the TARP vote and the Debt Ceiling limit extension vote last month. I shall give no succor to my representatives who voted for either bill.

Balance the budget, ration out only what comes in. Couldn't be more simple, logical and compassionate.

One can only hope the union thugs will stand down during the voting.
