It would be interesting to get agricultural's take on the UT haul these last couple of days. Anybody else feel free to post a link to the aggy boards.

There was a link w/ comments here in the Recruiting Forum last night from an Aggy site on the first 3 commits and a possible 4th, but it has mysteriously disappeared!

If I didnt have a stupid macbook that I have no idea how to use (I miss my PC!!!) then I would post a pic of an ostrich with it's head in the sand....

First thought after looking at these commits today is that most were leaning heavily to Texas, thus not many suprises. While Sherman was probably recruiting these guys, they weren't coming to A&M. That being said, Mack is getting a VERYgood haul as usual.

Defense is a huge need this year for the Ags, every position except maybe DE. 2 top flight DBs are off the board, as is the best DT but plenty of good players still available.

Congrats on the hot start

My personal opinions:

JUST A SUPER CLASS!!!

Looks like we fight with the rest of the big 12 and ooc for the low ranked leftovers?

Wondered where you'd been miller...we haven't heard from you on this board in a while. I see you're still not bowled over by the Shermanator's recruiting prowess...

the haul is not surprising in the slightest little bit--it's the way recruiting has been going for years...you guys get yours at junior day, and then we evaluate talent from there.

the two that bum me out are jackson and mcfarland. two need positions for us.

texas cleaning up at junior day is akin to saying water is wet. excellent haul for you guys.

THanks P-Joe for your objectivity. Please see my thread about star rankings... I'd like to hear about how you feel about where these guys will end up with regard to their stars.

goose, truthfully i'm not as well versed on the 2011 recruits. bundy should be able to give you better info than i can.

seems like colt mcvince's post is about right as far as stars go.

I think bundy has a maroon tilt. I certainly don't think he is as goofy as most aggy, but I sure wouldn't call him objective. jmo.

Bundy makes no secret of his aggy leanings, but he'll give you an honest take on any thread here. I'm not sure you can say that about most Horn fans that go on aggy sites, or other sites either. Bundy and Prop Joe generally make for interesting reading.

I remember that thread, and I love this quote from Bundy. I sporadically follow recruiting, but this told me all I needed to know about the significance of getting Jackson.

My personal opinions:

I seriously think we may have regressed?

In 2007, when we hired the Sherman 10, eight of the coaches had signed no 4*/5*players in the past 5 years, and the oher two coaches had 1 each?(rivals)

Now we just replaced 5 of these coaches, and four of the replacement coaches hired have not signed a single 4*/5* player in the last 5 years, and the other new coach has signed only 2 in the last 5 years?

A&M is curently ranked #58 by Sagarin; and our recruiting and coaching just got worse!

I'm suggesting 30,000+ empty Kyls Field season ticket seats, protesting until we get 10 decent coaches that can both recruit and coach!

Is there anything else I can do?

Even with adding 1-AA teams to our schedule, it looks like we may go 3-9 this seson, 2-10 next season and 1-11 in 2012!

The way we are ranked, you can beat us and it would hurt your ranking, and mnc chances

I've taken up golf for game days!

As much as I hate everything aggie, I think sherm has been making the best of recruiting. case in point, i think he did a great job recruiting OL guys last yr. i think we got great guys but missed out on really really good ones which would have made our life so much easier this yr around. but mack said that in his press conf himself so its nothing new or profound....
only mention it because i think where we screwed up, sherm did a great job picking up the pieces we left behind.
i think aggies are doing a good job building their program and they CAN get in a good position to take over OU's place in recruiting the state of texas if they keep their program stable (i.e. not fire sherm) no matter how tempting it might be after a bad season. a few winning seasons would obviously not hurt either...

I think the jury is still out on Shermie. Yes, he's shown some promise, but its been almost entirely on the offensive side of the ball. The aggy defense is in bad shape and the classes he's brought in are, well, yawners. If he doesn't make major recruiting improvements on defense, the aggy defense will continue to be ranked in the bottom tiers and that's not good for him.

Desmond Jackson is the #1 player in the state. Period. End of discussion. If you say its someone else then you are wrong and shouldn't be listened to.

Leroy Scott/Sheroid Evans--here's where Mack and company have consistantly kicked TAMU's ***, recruiting DBs who have size/speed. I've been told by those who have seen a lot of him, that Evans is a bit of a mystery (I was going to use "head case" but thats too strong) in that the kid is clearly the best athlete whenever he sets foot on the field, but it doesn't always translate. That could be said about most of these kids though. Both these guys are going to be Natl Top 150 players.

The OL--to me Greenlea and Flowers are the best OL I've seen film on. To me, they are Natl Top 100 kids. The others, while good, aren't on this level.

I'm surprised at the WRs taken, and to be honest my faves this year are Meteyor and the kid currently committed to OU.

I think, when all is said and done, if we were to fast forward to Signing Day 2011, only 4 of the top 10 players Mack will sign have already done so.

The LB from Dangerfield, the LB from Skyline, Greenlea, FLowers, Cedric Reed, Green, Malcom Brown, the kid from Waxahacie, Sims, and the LB from CLear Springs. Mack is going to get about half of these kids.

Another strong class for Mack in a down year in the state, especially when you consider a lot of the heft in the state is at one position (RB).

Onyegbule, Ash and the big RB (I'm assuming he'll be a FB) are puzzlers to me. Not that they aren't good players but I don't think these guys compliment the roster already in place. I like Onyegbule, but what does he bring to the table that you don't already have? Ash is going to sit behind Gilbert for 2 years and then behind the Wood/McCoy winner for another 2 (at least).

Most likely to transfer elsewhere to get playing time award (the Jevan Snead trophy)...David Ash.

I'm intrigued about Thompson...need to see film though. Have heard real good things. Have heard the Evans film is damn nice, but haven't seen it myself.

bundy... no question jackson is a super stud. then again, i thought bible was the same type of stud last year, before he started to pack on a few too many bad pounds. evans is raw, but oh.. that speed and size. what a great safety recruit.

bundy is right about onyegbule. seems like a terrell type of recruit, and we've struck out more with those in recent years (webber, payne, etc...). hopefully he'll turn out to be a solid contributor later on.

bergeron i really like. a fb that is big and strong as a blocker and can catch? sounds good to me, if we are to ever run whaley or if we get brown.

ash is a no brainer to me. best qb prospect ceiling wise in texas, though walsh would have probably fit a bit better for us. sure he's a transfer candidate later, but you never know with qbs.
