Question about my car and the code for the radio. Got some work done on it over the weekend and they disconnected the battery. I don't have the code for the stereo and I need the serial # for the radio to get it. I stopped by a Honda place and the guy there told me that some Acuras have a sticker somewhere on the glovebox you can see when you open it that has the serial number for the radio.

Is this true? I did find a sticker on the side of the glovebox you can see when you open it up. Would I just be able to call up an Acura shop with that number and get the security code? That would save me abuot $90 according to the guy at Honda, if true.

Much appreciated in advance.

Yes, the newer models have the radio code and/or the radio chassis number on a sticker either inside the glove box, or on a sticker under the dash usually around the bottom of the glove box. The code is five or six numbers and you just punch them in on the station ID keys when the display reads "code."
If you find the chassis number, you can get the code from the parts department or the service writer, although they may ask for proof of ownership, requiring a drive to the dealership.
If you can't find the code or the chassis number, the radio must be slid out of its housing in the dash to read the chassis number on the back of the radio. On some models this is harder than others, and the console must be removed to get the radio out of there.
If you bought the car new, you got a card with the owner's book packet that has the code on there. If you bought the car used at a used car or new car dealership, the first thing they do it toss out the owner's book for some reason, causing problems like this one.
