Anyone know how many dumbells Id need to for p90x? Just wondering if I need a set of maybe 15's for certain workouts involving dumbells and maybe a set of 25's and 35's? Or do I need a complete set?

Thanks,

if you have 15's 25's and 35's you should be fine.

but there are some exercises he does with 45's. but ****, man, that's just too heavy.

That is a good place to start, but ultimately you are going to want a wider variety of weights. Unless you are already pretty strong, doing weighted arm circles with 15# will be tough. Also, with strip set curls you may want the option to drop down in 5# increments rather than the 10# difference you have now. What you have is a good place to start, but I would anticipate you will need a few more interval sizes to optimize your workouts. Good luck. It's a tough workout, but stick with it (including the nutrition plan) and you will see results.

I'm very close to buying the p90 from craigslist and purchasing a few weights and a chin up bar. I have been/currently working with free weights every MWF since Jan. alternating between upper and lower body.

always start off with crunches, chin-ups (want to increase #), side bends, side crunches, and leg raises .

Then I do pull downs, seated rows, bench, flat and inclined flys, and standing and inclined presses and finally laterals.

On Lower body, I do calf raises, leg extensions, squats, curls, preacher curls, french presses, and where you pull the bar down to your waist and up to chest level /back down again(name for excercise?) and tricept extensions.

I am interested in p90 cause it includes a nutrition guide, cardio, streatching, and ab excercises. I want to increase muscle mass (like everyone else) and to increse cardio to improve my running endurance and time. Any thoughts on including X in a morning workout with my current MWF evening workout?

P90X is a great routine, and it does a great job of mixing things up and kicking your *** in the process. If you want to include it as a morning workout, and still do a MWF workout, my concern would be that you might be over doing it. P90X is 1 hour minimum, and 90 minutes on some days (yoga specifically), with 75 minutes the norm. It's pretty specific on the order of workouts. "Easy" days aren't really that easy, especially at first.

Traveling like I do (almost every week), this was a ***** to keep up with, but I did one rev of it, then moved away from it. I'm going to go back and do another round here starting in July.

I would start with just the P90x routine first. If you push yourself, it really is an intense workout. There is a plan within the system to do doubles, you could look into that if you want. Also, check out their forums atThe Link I am sure someone has asked about adding additional weight routines. As runner pointed out, the routines typically take about 90 min a day 6 days/week and are in specific order to allow muscle groups to recoup after being stressed.
