P.Terry's Burger Stand

At Lamar and Barton Springs. Tried it today and HOLY COW it was good. The burger was good and the fries were incredible.

Also noticed that the KFC and Wendy's near that intersection both closed down. With the Sonic on Guadalupe, that's a lot of closings recently.

Huh. My wife brought some P. Terry's home a few weeks after they opened, and I honestly think I've had better burgers at ShortStop.

I just tried In N Out for the first time in November, and shortly before that had P. Terrys. That was the first thing that popped into my head when I had the In N Out burger, that it was very similar to P. Terrys.

Price is comparable to other places. Menu is very simple. They have kick *** lemonade. And they like dogs.

I only had it once and it was right after they opened but the burger was extremely small. I didn't realize how small it was until I got home and wish I had another one. It was ok but obviously not good enough for me to have been back since.

Yeah, the burgers are really small.

The Wendy's closed there because they are going to build condos there between Lamar and the Pitch and Putt. Around the Pagi House. I think the TC there on the corner is eventually going to be gone too.

I'm a fan. Burgers are a good size and not overly filling. The fries are great - they remind me of Crown & Anchor. A combo is only about $4.50 or so.

I consider it a fast-food burger in competition with Wendy's, BK, McDonald's, Shortstop, Whataburger, etc. - and in that category, at the top. No bacon though?!?

How funny... I just ate there today, and thought of Hornfans and what people would think!

This is my second visit. The first time was pre- Rose Bowl trip, and I felt that it was so so...
Then while in LA, went to In-N-Out, had doudble double animal style and fries for the first time...
So now that I have a reference point...
Today, i went back and had a Cheeseburger Combo (fries + drink), and an extra Cheese burger(was very hungry), and it came out to $7.20 (almost positive on exact price).
I think the combo alone is $5.30.

Anyway, I liked it much more this 2nd time than first time, and it did in fact remind me a bit of In-N-Out. Was the burger as good?, probably not, but quite similar. The fries are very similar. If you look in the back right, the guy will be washing potatoes and cutting them just like at In-N-Out, and they cook them to order.
The owner is a nice guy too, and both he and I can't wait for Barton Springs Saloon to open up next door!

I don't think you should compare it to Huts or Dans or Dirtys, it's just a different style. And yes, they're on the small side of burger sizes.

Burgers are too small. Fries are very good, though. Don't like making the sharp turn between drive-thru windows.

I think p terry's kicks ***.

If you are really hungry just get a double, but if not the burger is perfect size to where you still have room to put away fries and a shake.

I talked to P.Terry owner (need to find out if he is P.Terry), about Barton Springs Saloon. He said he thinks May or June would be the open date... He said the owner of it apparently got a little ahead of himself, and was slowed down dramatically by the dozens of permits the city requires.
I can't wait to sit and drink a cold beer with my Double and Fries! It's gonna be GOOOD!!!!

And the verdict is...eh, not bad. I can see the INO comparisons, especially with the fries. I asked them to do my fries light (I like 'em lighter), and they looked at me like I was crazy. But they did it. The burgers are small, like many have posted here, even the double left me a bit hungry. However, with some thousand island and pickles on there, it would have been INO-esque.

Not bad, I'll have it again if I'm in the neighborhood.

The Barton Springs Saloon is now open...as of 3:30 today, following the final ice machine permit. Every one go enjoy a cold one!

I had to pick up my stepdaughter at the Daughtery Arts Center today, and I got there about 30 minutes early, so I popped into Barton Springs Saloon for a beer.

Well, the beer was cold. That was good.

Otherwise, it's still a work in progress. Finish-out is clearly incomplete, but the staff was nice enough and there appears to be plenty of room. (More room than parking, that's for sure.) They'll get taps in place once they finish their walkin cooler, so for now it's bottled beer only, as well as liquor (from what I saw).

They could use a "pub decorator" of sorts, but over time, the place will probably gain some style. It reminded me of B.B. Rover's on Jollyville Road.

Yes, definately a work in progress. I'm an investor in the project, so I know what a long road it's been. We just wanted to get open ASAP. We've got a plethora of Texas "artifacts" to hang on the walls yet and some more plans for the inside. A roof top bar is in the works for the future, but it all depends on the parking situation. Our neighbors at the Green Mesquite and P. Terry's are offering up some parking in exchange for placing menus in the bar. We don't have room for a kitchen, so no food. You can always order from our neighbors and bring it in the bar. Keep coming back to see the progress!
