Overhyped?

I just need to get this off my chest. I just read two internet stories about our game with TCU. One said our loss was in embarrassing fashion. The other said we were "overhyped" again.
So here is my pet peeve. The only people who overhype Texas every year is the media. And then they mock us for being "overhyped". Not one logical Texas fan I talked to before the season began hyped us. We all hoped. But none thought we were contenders. Most predicted 8-4, 9-3 at the best. That's not hype.

Secondly, how is losing to the #4 ranked team an embarrassment? Yes, it sucked that we couldn't score on offense. There were issues. But an embarrassment? I don't think so. I'm a little sick and tired of the media with all the "Texas is back" BS when the only people making that claim are the media.

Ok, I'm finished with my rant. I would have gone on this rant with the people in my house. But neither my wife or my dog care.

Like the Dallas Cowboys. I don't watch NFL, but if am on the road at a restaurant or just in a hotel, it is hard to avoid the mindless talking head dolts on ESPN talking about them a lot, even though they have sucked for 3 decades now.

Texas has sucked for a decade plus now as well. But they still drive ratings and sell stuff, so people want to hear about them even if, and particularly if, they hate Texas.

Interesting thing I heard before the game the other day. This is the longest stretch in program history without a conference title for Texas.

It was about ten years between Mackovic winning the initial B12 and Brown finally getting one.
And that was with one consistent coach. And a pretty good one.
It's been about twelve years since Brown's last and we've had three coaches in that time. Four counting Brown.
We better hope Sark can get one before we head to the SEC.

so since MB we have watched 3 try yo lead, 2 were absolute busts and 1 of those was a boned of a 'leader; maybe both!!!

Cant keep the changes happening while others continually pass Horns in many areas esp total wins, etc...must have consistency that DKR, Akers and MB offered and achieved!!

Should have kept Brown longer and Texas would not be losing face .....!!!

Texas underachieves. Vegas had us a favorite against #4 TCU. TCU isn’t great and with a good QB we win.
I had picked us at 7-5 because of Sark’s ineptitude, track record and what I saw in the spring game. Not because that was acceptable. We should be 9-3 plus every year.
For every 50 caps Texas sells, a TCU hat is sold. So that’s the hype.

The only difference in the pundants in the media and the girl working the street is the girl on the street admits to how she makes her living. Both are prostitutes. And anybody who reads writers like that jerk in the Austin paper needs to understand that people like him simply print stories to anger fans, playing to the fan's masochistic tendencies. Don't read, don't subscribe. Your friends and honest critique can be found right here.

Acceptable? Meh.

But expected for those of us who predicted 8-4 because the team's performance matches pretty much what we expected from the roster that we have.

Fielding an O line starting two true freshmen and a sophomore; a D backfield with freshmen being moved in and out all season due to sophomores getting injured; and a LB'r core with only one returning starter; and a true freshman QB; and a coach who seems to be unable to sub in a QB from the bench who might give us a better chance to win a game where the freshman is playing like a deer in the headlights.
Without Bijan and Ro we'd be looking at 6-6 or 5-7 again.

Does it give me or anyone else pleasure that we are an 8-4 team (if we can win out)? No. I'd love 10-2.

But 8-4 is what we saw coming this season, and that is who we are.

I think thats the best description - embarrassment.

Yes it was a loss to the #4 ranked team, but even Tarleton State and Colorado put up more points than we need against them. Everybody has been able to move the ball and score on TCU. Everybody.

I think embarrassing fits perfectly....on offense, anyway. Defense was freakin national championship calibre, but Sark choked in front of a national audience.

After the **** Mack Brown pulled on The University, you would still want him on payroll? NO ******* WAY! I have said multiple times that he and Billie Powers set our program back 20 years, and now I have to think I may have shortchanged them.
