Outlook Question

Need some recovery help. I left my company yesterday, and we used exchange for email. Well this morning I opened Outlook offline (all my messages were there as I did the folder sync), and then made the mistake of removing the Exchange client. That made my emails disappear, and I hdn't archived. I know the files are there someplace - old emails, contacts, etc, all local, but can't find them to restore. Help!

try doing a search on your hdd for "*.pst" then open that data file from within outlook.

If you're using Windows XP, first open up My Computer. Then, go to the Tools menu (at the top), and select Options. Click on the View tab. In the 'Advanced Settings' section at the bottom, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected. The .pst files are in hidden folders, and Windows usually doesn't want to show them or return them in search results.

If you kept the default file location when you setup the synchronization, then the .pst file should be in:

C:Documents and Settings<your login account>Application DataMicrosoftOutlook

...where <your login account>
is the account you use to login to your computer. The synch file is probably named outlook.pst. Good luck!
