Outlook 'Auto Fill In' Question

Somewhere along the line, I typed in an e-mail address wrong. Now, each time I put it in, it comes up with the typo. Where is this info stored so I can wipe it out? I don't want to remove the auto fill in. I just want to get rid of the bad entry that is populating the line. Running Outlook 2002 on XP.

No, no, no. Hullabelew is talking about The Automatic Name Checking feature, which is unrelated to the address book.

The addresses all live in a cache file, which is named outlook.nk2 by default, but it may be named something different if your Outlook profile has a special name. Sadly, the file is complied, and cannot be edited with a normal text editor, at least not without difficulty and risk of trashing it. Apparently MS did not feel as though you would ever want to remove selected entries from the cache. You can, however, delete the entire cache and start from scratch.

Can't you just right click and delete it when it appears?

Man, my cache got wiped out and it has reallly ****** me up. I have forgotten about 95% of my e-mail contacts. Now on the new Outlook, it appears to lack the personal address book, so I am forced to click through to contacts every time. Frustrating.

Excellent info idig! Thanks for the help. This is my work machine as well. This setup is pissing me off. Just because I came back from lunch after 5 or 6 beers and miss-typed an address, now I am essentially screwed. It also screws you when someone changes an e-mail address.
