OUT FOR OSU --Brandon Belt's self-inflicted injury

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere on here, but the reason Preston Clark played 1B last night is that in batting practice, Brandon hit a foul that bounced up in his face, hitting him below his left eye.

He was in the dugout holding an ice pack during the game.

When he removed it briefly, it didn't appear too swollen to me, but it's not my eye and I didn't see him up close, so I don't know how bad it is.

Updates would be appreciated if anyone knows his condition today.

That would not be called a "self-inflicted" injury, though. For a minute I thought he got upset at our whole team's offense staying cold, and punched a wall or something! R.J.

Longhorn baseball loses top hitter for weekend

Texas first baseman Brandon Belt, the team’s leader in batting average, will not play this weekend when Texas takes on Oklahoma State. He did not make the trip to Stillwater after injuring an eye while practicing bunting before Tuesday’s win over Oral Roberts.
With Belt sidelined, Preston Clark figures to fill in at first for the Longhorns. The Link 3/longhorn_baseba.html

Bummer.

Come on, PC, pick it up now! Got to hit the ball!

Preston's surgeries in the off-season prevented him from playing in the summer leagues and fall practice. He has played in 21 of the 26 games this year, starting only 16. For these reasons. his offensive numbers are low.

Preston has done whatever this team has asked, play 3rd base, lst base, catch. Watch him on the field for the full game;he is the leader and the backbone of this team, encouraging players, especially pitchers and doing the intangibles that characterize great players.

The word "letdown" should never be used in a post about Preston Clark.

What Torre said.

We'll take PC any way we get him. Healthy, busted up, whatever.

Beat the HELL outta Okie State!

I agree that Preston has been the very definition of a "team player." I hope he has shaken off the cobwebs and is becoming the player we know he can be.
