OU's Whitney Hand has thumb surgery

According to OUinsider.com, Whitney Hand had surgery on her left thumb and will be out for the remainder of the regular season with hopes that she can return for the Big XII tournament.

WOW! That is very bad news for OU. I would guess that Stevenson will be inserted into the starting lineup since she is a great three point shooter. That really hurts their depth.

wow, that is a tough blow. Hand is a great shooter, but she also does a lot of little things...she's a smart player that takes care of the basketball. Stevenson will no doubt move into the starting line-up. as far as depth goes, it's now on Roethlisberger and Vining to give some good minutes off the bench.

should be an interesting game at A&M tonite.

They are expecting her back for the Big 12 Tournament, so they may have dodged a bullet.

Well, the certainly can afford to play without her without the risk of losing their lead in the Big 12 regular season. The pitfall would be losing a game or two and getting a lower seed in the NCAA tourney.

Ouch! Sounds painful. They may be better served keeping her out until the NCAAs. I remember a finger/hand? injury Nina Norman suffered and her coming back for the first NCAA game looking great then doing poorly the next game against Georgia. The longer Hand sits out, the more time she will have to be painfree when she comes back.
