ou's metoyer still working to get qualified

He will get in, and ou will continue to tout their academic standards and number of merit scholarship attendees.

So you are telling me that there isn't a guy in Oklahoma smart enough to get him a qualifying score on the ACT?

actually, i'm hoping he gets in and that he does it on his own merit.  fact is, i take that he is struggling to be an encouragement.  old-time oklahoma wouldn't let him take the test, you know.  this tends to validate what some are saying about ou trying to clean itself up.  my guess is that boren is smart enough to realize what they should do, and that he and castiglione have come to terms with powers and dodds to form a backbone for this conference.  just my guess, but remember the comments when all that realignment was on the table that oklahoma is sticking with us regardless.

also, i want them strong, and i want to beat their asses anyway.  them strong means we have to get stronger.  that's what i want, and i think that's what we are doing.

OU Standards:

2 + 2 = 5.

(with a handshake) Congratulations son, The University of Oklahoma welcomes you.

Is this actually a case of the young man not scoring high enough on his entrance exam, or low grades, or is this a case of the NCAA holding him back like has happened to some of our recruits?

geezer, he hasn't been able to clear the act hurdle yet.  and, yes, hd, legitimately.

lt, don't muddy the oatmeal.

careful.  that may be baloney on a stick.

i started to post something on that earlier but decided i'd wait to see if there is anything more substantial on it.

the guy who is making this claim may be questionable.  on his twitter page he talks about israel being behind the 9/11 tragedy.

i'd go easy repeating this.  for the record, metoyer's dad says he's good to go for the sooners, but we've heard that from dads before, of course.  wait and see.  still could go either way, i bet.

here's that guy's twitter address.

he may know what he's talking about.  he says:
"I work for his next door neighbor... Trey jacked around the past two years, tjc has been the only option for a while."

he said this to somebody else:
"I work for his next door neighbor and I went to tjc. Know a bunch of youngsters that know Trey."

still, i'd go easy for the time being.  very good chance this guy knows what he's talking about.  also very good chance he's just hearing local rumors.

oklahoma news article on metoyer taking jc classes to try to raise average.

of course, the thought of his taking so-called college courses to try to bring up his high school average is pretty telling.

i feel for the dad particularly.  he is really sweating this.  i have this vision of trey the past year thinking he didn't have to do anything to get into ou and now this.  in the old way of doing he would have been right.  for some reason, i believe, ou has changed its policy, and trey may be caught up in the gears of this thing.

one conclusion i think we can make about this.  recall that the test score requirement is not absolute.  there is a sliding scale of test score and grade average.  the higher the average, the lower the test score has to be.

sounds to me like he just couldn't get past the act hurdle, given his record, and the last resort is bringing up his gpa through some summer classes.

good luck to the metoyers.

Is this a clearinghouse issue, (jeez I hate the "clearinghouse", keep waiting for Ed McMahom to yell out "YEEEESSSS!!!! Haaaaaa...you are not eligible!!!!) or an OU issue?

no, it's not an ou issue.  the ncaa has minimum requirements that every kid must meet.

i think we all have a poor opinion of the clearing house.  probably most of the time the clearing house does good work, but now and then it seems ridiculously petulant and willfully hurtful.  of course, we never know the details, so we never know for sure when the clearing house is being horsey, but there have been some situations that i think they would have a hard time explaining, if they had to answer to anyone but the almighty.

I am always a gracious poster here.. always have been. You are fooling yourself; however, if you think ours are any worse than that of your own.

I'd love to see those of VY, Ramonce, and .. well take your pick.

Athletes across the board are just that.

Ou's most certainly aren'y any better. So lay off of my Sooners.

You're on a Longhorn board Mr. Gracious.

If you want better treatment for blow-u players try your own boards.

And spare us the "everybody does it" routine, we hear that excuse enough when you guys are defending the Bomars of the world....or take your pick of cheaters.
