Really? To be crystal clear discrimination against gays is absolutely wrong
BUT
when we here are struggling and are so in debt while borrowing $.40 out of every dollar we are spending this is NOT the time for this

"The Obama administration Tuesday issued the first-ever U.S. strategy to address foreign nations’ human-rights violations against gays, directing all U.S. government agencies to protect them from abuses.

“I am deeply concerned by the violence and discrimination targeting LGBT persons around the world — whether it is passing laws that criminalize LGBT status, beating citizens simply for joining peaceful LGBT pride celebrations, or killing men, women, and children for their perceived sexual orientation,” President Obama wrote in a memorandum with his name attached. “Under my Administration, agencies engaged abroad have already begun taking action to promote the fundamental human rights of LGBT persons everywhere.”

It instructs the State Department, the U.S. Agency for International Development and other agencies to use foreign aid to “build respect for the human rights of LGBT persons.

I hate to admit it but I agree with Perry on this. This is NOT American interests.
BO is pandering and trying to buy votes here but most Gays I know are dealing with the same issues we all are, trying to survive and worried about keeping jobs.

This is a good example of why all foreign aid needs to stop. The objectionable part of this policy is not the selection of "LGBT" for special treatment but rather that we through our tax dollars are made to choose a group. This results in outrage from the folks who disagree with the choice, but who probably wouldn't even notice much less object if "LGBT" were replaced with a group to which they belong or are sympathetic, like "Christians" or "union members" or "oppressive but pro-American dictators." How about a policy that promotes protection of all the fundamental rights of all individuals, starting by focusing on individuals in the US (including gays, who are not treated equally by the law) before we get all high-minded and try to export our goodness.

Now I feel better about Obama's jobs plan where I pay more in taxes.

Agree completely eyes. I pay a boatload in taxes but I'd pay more if I thought there was anyone in Washington looking out to make sure it was not wasted.

It is time for the addict to go cold turkey.

Human rights initiatives deserves more "American values" respect than other initiatives I can spout off.
