This is yet another proof that at least the Aggie mantra about not understanding from the outside, or whatever it is, is true. This, to me, seems like the RC Slocum decision all over. This guy fit perfectly as an ag. He seemed to understand the culture. He spoke their language fluently. He seemed to be the only level-headed person over at Baghdad-on-the-Brazos regardi g the SEC move, now he is paying the price. The guy has put Aggie Athletics on the map. He is being held responsible for not getting their football program out of mediocrity, despite the fact that the program throughout its history is mired in mediocrity - the Sherrill cheating years aside. It is exactly the same as their situation with RC.

Due to their inflated views of themselves, they go and fire the guy who has had the best sustained success in their history.

Mike Sherman was fired because the Aggie football team lost to Texas this year. Bill Byrne is being fired because every other Aggie sports team is losing to Texas this year.

aggy hired him to beat Texas, he failed and we aren't playing them anymore. Time for them to move on.

Byrne came in there and acted like he was a
senior yell leader instead of a Nebraska refugee.
He used all the right terms right down to all the
"friends from the state capital" and even "UT."

I tried to use the slang derisive term Aggy uses
for Texas above, but the hornfans filter got me.

That kind of talk coming from a school official is
just juvenile behavior not any better than Nutt
doing the Horns down at the Cotton Bowl game.

Our administrators and even coaches do things
that we don't agree with, but they don't do that
kind of crap.

He did bring them up in the world of "other" sports
and was a darling for awhile because of that and
his "old army" demeanor.

The losing in the major sports, especially the
cratering of basketball and football when they
were favored to win the conference and of course
losing to Texas was his demise.

If your an official at a so called major university, then act like one instead of a freshman at "fish camp" trying to impress with "red ***" ways."

He lived at Aggyville by buying in (or at least acting like he did) to the Aggy delusion so let him
die by that same Aggy delusion.
