OU vs UNL academics

I recently had a football conversation with a Big 10 guy. We talked about all the action over the summer. I told him I was hoping that Texas would end up in the Big 10. His response was that Texas would only go if OU was invited too, and the Big 10 couldn't do that because of OU's academics. I pointed out that they ended up with Nebraska. "Oh, they're much better."

Are they? I viewed both of them as sort of average schools. I was also under the impression that Nebraska would be the worst school (from an academic standpoint) in the Big 10. Am I missing anything?

NU is a member of the AAU and that speaks volumes in the Big 10 regardless of the school's less than stellar credentials.

The PAC-10 were willing to take ou, sand aggy and okie lite if they landed Texas so academics should not have been an issue.

The issue with the Big 10 is and will always be the Big 10 Network.
