@Moooooo not a minor point at all. We're still hunting for that top 20 spot which would = hosting the first and second rounds.
Just picture this, we win out and possibly win the whole b12 tournament because we played BU the toughest except OU last night then we could be looking at a 3-4 seed. That would be a GOD send with the lull we had there in the middle of conf play
In order to host we would have to be in the top 16. That is a longshot but possible if we win out (including the Big 12 tournament), and have a little help.
Someone noted that Louisville would be unable to host first and second rounds; so, if they are given a #3 seed, the #6 seed in their bracket would host the sub-regional. There could be another Top 16 national seed in the same boat
Prior to OU beating Baylor last night, Crème had them as a #7 seed and us as a #8 seed. OU did not do well in non-conference compared to us, and vice verse regarding conference games. But, considering they had a 4-game lead on us and #2 in the Big 12 standings, you would have thought they'd be better than a #7 seed. Regardless, their win yesterday moves them up to at least a #6 seed. For us, if we can win our next two games, and win our first game in Dallas, that would probably translate to a #6 seed. Win out and win the Big 12 tourney, and you never know.
You're absolutely right, top 16 not top 20 as my spotty math would've suggested lol. But here's where the "bracketology" misses me completely. I think sometimes **** is just thrown at the wall to see what sticks. With that being said, I would love to have us be the #6 in one of the sub-regionals that would cause us to host. I dont want to play a Jeff Walz team because that would give them a distinct advantage, but if we did have to play them I would love to have that game in Austin.
