I really haven't paid much attention to what Blow U has done in recruiting, with the exception of the guys we went head-to-head with them for.

The San Diego Union had a roundup today and show 4 kids from SD headed to Norman.

That's a lot. More than USC and UCLA got. As expected, SDSU grabbed more, but they weren't as highly ranked as the OU recruits.

They seem to have a connection with Las Vegas as well. But convincing a kid to leave San Diego to live in a dump like Norman has to be one of the greatest sales jobs of all time.

They lost a stud TE to USC from Bishop Gorman in LV this year.

USC didn't offer Clay.

In Stills' case, USC received commitments from Rivals top 2 WR (Prater, Woods) and the coaches advised him he should look elsewhere. Stills himself admitted this. He really wanted to go to SC.

Re: Jefferson, he openly stated there was too much competition at SC at DB and was worried about playing time. USC offered though. When he ended up playing behind two SC commits (Bailey and Riley who was all SC before the coaching change) at the Rising Stars Camp he saw the writing on the wall.

yeah, it was kind of perfect storm for us this year in san diego. usc had top WR's and we just have more to offer than ucla. we do have a little connection with byshop gorman out in vegas, although we lost out on a guy this year.

i doubt you'll see us continue to be this successful in southern cal, but it is possilbe. it is very much like recruiting against texas... you all can only offer so many, and there still a lot left over.

I know Mike Stoops recruits the SD area heavily. Could he see that a kid is not going to go to UA, so he pushes them toward his bro to get them out of the Pac 10?

What does their ranking have to do with it? If Mike goes into the kid's school, kid says he doesn't really have any interest in UA and then Mike says "OK, well OU might be a good fit for you, have you checked them out?" You don't think that would help?

I believe Ed Orgeron did this with Joe McKnight to USC when he was at Ole Miss (to keep him from LSU and other SEC schools).
