You cant make this stuff up

West Orange-Stark football player Trey Franks is suspended for the remainder of the season, the West Orange-Cove ISD school board announced Monday night.

Franks is among three students to be suspended from extracurricular activity for the rest of the fall semester for violating the district's student conduct code, the board said. Franks had been suspended for last Friday's game, with his status for the rest of the season to be determined at Monday's board meeting.

Franks, a wide receiver and defensive back, is committed to play college football at the University of Oklahoma.

Dog bites man...the real surprise would have been if he hadn't been suspended. Franks will fit right in up in Norman.

West Orange-Stark football star Trey Franks is suspended for the rest of the high school football season, the West Orange-Cove ISD school board announced Monday night. The board said Franks is suspended for inappropriate use of technology, which includes "transferring or sharing obscene, sexually-oriented, lewd or other illegal images or photographs," according to the district code of conduct handbook. Is the suspension of West Orange-Stark football star Trey Franks for the rest of the season fair?

I know this will be an unpopular post but I don't think we gain anything by ragging on a high school student. We have had a few players here and there who have run afoul of the law and I don't think Mack expected that from them. I seriously doubt Stoops wants character problems on the team. We have so many more positive aspects about our program that we can stress...

I agree with bystander, no team wants to have kids that are problem cases. There have been a fair number of Longhorn players who have also had problems doing or having inappropriate stuff, so there's no need to make a huge deal of this.

Let's just be glad this kid is not UT's problem.

So if that one comment is true, he was "sexting", which is according to the media, popular and growing in the teen world. With cameras on cell phones, webcams and other gadgets like digital cameras it is rampant and global. A girl wants attention or to be told she is beautiful and takes shots or does stuff on webcam for a dude or dudes. Imagine this, one of them posts it in a public place or distributes it. Depending on her age, that is child porn and not only the guy gets in trouble, she does too for creating and distributing it. There was a good episode of Law and Order SVU on this.

I would be mortified if I had a teen daughter nowadays. Granted it takes two to tango but I think the problem is girls showing to guys and guys passing it on. If this is what happened the guy is in the wrong but as many point out about things like a Public Intoxication or other typical mishaps of HS kids, this is not out of the norm, sadly. He just got caught, is a high profile athlete and will pay a price for it.

I guess all kids think they are still bulletproof and that whoever they show their privates to will not ever get angry with them or try to show off by showing others. Ah, stupid teens.

Didn't we have a kicker get into trouble for taking pictures or taping a 3some he had with two HS girls and even though he was still in HS he got in trouble for showing it to friends? I forget the kicker and exact details but it was only something like five or six years ago.

Tough break for the kid and he should have been smarter. Can you imagine the tail that is offered up to him and the girls willing to put on a show for him and other high profile athletes bound for a major college program? I think Joe Normal has no clue just how much and how often. How these guys ever finish school (and don't get me started on what happens when they get to college, whoa boy) is beyond me.

This kid will hopefully be allowed to play in college and I don't think he should be disallowed to go to OU nor should he be a "problem" or at risk kid for this. But he needs to wise up some. All teens do regarding public things and the intergoogles. Buck Burnette and a few others come to mind as ones who would agree.

i agree, l00p. i did some googling last night after my post and discovered what you are saying. was news to me, and it puts the whole thing into a different light.

that said, though, it is still potentially very serious. the cell phone makes it a federal offense, though if he is 18 it was probably federal regardless. apparently the gendarmes are looking to make a lot of noise about this because almost none of the kiddos realizes it is potentially felony stuff.

i read last night about someone who was officially labeled a sexual predator over exactly this same issue. imagine trying to get a decent job with that popping up on your record.

if they want to chill a bunch of kids, nailing a high profile kid - regardless if it seems unfair - might seem tempting.

this is very serious stuff and i worry for the kid. i'm sure all that seems so innocent to them and the long term ramifications can be so awful.

What is being labled (actually prosecuted) as sex offenses is very broad right now. There is some scary **** out there that people are unknowingly being caught by.

For example, did you know that if you urinate in public and are caught, it is a sex offense and you will be labeled as a sex offender for exposing yourself?

Here is how it works innocently. You are an avid runner. You hydrate really well to go for your long run. Your bladder is full and you go into a thick, wooded area to relieve yourself at the local park. An officer who is looking for these types of offenses sees you (he doesn't actually see your johnson), arrests you and you are prosecuted as a sex offender.

Watch yourself folks.

Back in the sixties here in Texas, you could be charged with statutory rape if you were caught out at the submarine races with an underage young lady who took her shoes off. Needless to say, back then, whatever else came off, you made sure she kept her shoes on!

no treally, if you are over 26 any more, you are officially old. and if you are over 40, you are positively pleistocene.

it is ugly what this world is becoming. i don't mind the thought of checking to see if there is another after this one.
