OU - Lincoln Riley

E Carolina did very well on O with him the last few years. Didn't see many of their games but they lead their conference in offense as I recall.

I think he understands that Cleveland is a dead-end. Maybe Jerry has already sent feelers out to him... Is Lincoln the next Sean McVay?

It's hard to be young and make the move from college to nfl. he needs a great staff. is he too young to pull it together?

I don't know Lincoln's family situation. If Mrs Riley likes the idea of dining at the mansion on turtle creek, old Warsaw, The Palm, Cool River etc and likes to spend a few hundred thousand on fine shopping, maybe Oklahoma is not the place. Then again, if you don't like traffic, have small town tastes ... Norman ain't so bad.

From being a successful coach standpoint, would you rather be a well paid king of your domain, recruiting the guys you want to coach, or do you want to be a similarly paid flunky for a man whose ego wouldn't fit in Oklahoma who will pick your players and insist on a say on your assistants?

He's from Muleshoe, TX. I hear he likes the small town/big time program combo in Norman.

Not to mention that he'll fire you in an instant when it inevitably doesn't work out.

I think Riley is too smart to take the Cleveland job and if he does well at OU, which I'm sure is a personal goal of his, better NFL opportunities will come.

Owners like Jerry Jones and Jimmy Haslam remind me of a buddy I had years ago who bought an expensive sports car because he finally got a job where he could. He almost killed himself in that thing and he said to me afterwards, "Just because you can buy a car like that doesn't mean you know how to drive it".

Haslam is also credited by most of the fan base for single handedly ruining the Tennessee football program. He had way too much influence over the school administration, the athletic director and the coaching decisions. Basically he was calling the shots. During the last coach search debacle and the fan uprising the university basically told him to F off and take his big money with him.

I know nothing about what he has done at Cleveland, but after what I learned about his impact on Tennessee I have no doubt they absolutely suck as a program because of him.
