Sorry if this is in the wrong forum or already has been posted. I saw this and it made me angry. Yes there is alot of people who have been killed on that side of the border but not on this side. I lived in El Paso for 20+ years and the only time I have not lived here is when I went to UT. This is a safe city and not affected by what happens on the other side of the boarder.

It saddens me to see OU football players saying what they are. There is nothing wrong about this quite desert town. We have been listed as the safest place to live in the lower 48 states. Even more safe the Norman. I think that OU fans are using the violence in Mexico as an excuse not to go to a lower bowl. Sooner fans are fickle and do not want to follow the team when they are not playing a BCS bowl. I just wish they would not bad mouth a city that has done nothing wrong more then be next to another city.

Fixed hilarious typo

Actually, I don't blame them. The media says or alludes counter to what you say. I believe you, people I know who have been there believe you. But the media leads others to think it is not safe there. They make it seem more than it is and that it is more rampant. If they put out what you do or if you were a PR person for El Paso it may be different. But given the info available to the general public I don't blame them.

There are some that may want to venture across the border and they really need a talking to and to take proper precautions.

"sooner fans are fecal" yep they are

That is true, hmmm, you are the wise one. It makes our country a better place one person at a time. But it could create tension twixt our nations. Or, it could give us leverage!

"Mexico, if you don't control the immigration and drug trade, we send more Sooners over".

Problem solved.

I would think that with all the guns and drugs that have been around the athletic dorms in Norman, they would be used to it.

Which is more likely:
- Sooner Fan kidnapped by Drug Cartel
- Sooner Fan sees 4th consecutive bowl defeat (7 of last 9)

I lived in El Paso from 2002-2005 and I can say without question it was the safest city I have ever lived in. I remember at the time, for at least one year, El Paso was named as the city with the smallest amount of violent crime in the U.S. over 250,000.

I cain't believe that one Sooner fella says they should move the Bowl Game to another city. Bob Stoops has made his boys soft. Shootings, Rapings, Drugs.. heck... Barry Switzer's Sooners woulda felt like they was right smack dab in the middle of their own Dormatory.

I like El Paso. The city and people are very nice and the food is unsurpassed. I've had no troubles there.

Come on, sooners! Fill up the Sun Bowl! Now, rooting for you is another matter...

You'll get your car stolen in EP in the amount of time it takes to walk to the meter...but in general, yeah, you don't have to fear for your life...

However, you're best advised to stay away from Juarez, especially if you're going to get good and gringo ******-up. Given that this is 90% of the reason anyone would ever attend the Sun Bowl, you can't completely blame them for not snapping up tickets...

OU sux and being an EP fan from growing up there and loving every return trip to me this only proves it!!
A margarita and meal at Forti's is what I would ask for on my death bed!! I also think the night lights from Rim Rd rival anywhere in the US of A.,
