OU fans pulling for horns???

I was in OKC this morning, listening to local radio sports show. I didn't hear the question but the callers (at least most of them) are pulling for Texas in the bowl. I think the hate for the SEC seems to be the main point behind the okie support..dunno

I don't hate SEC totally, but I don't like Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss. While I have a much stronger rivalry sense with ou, i also wish alabama would lose every game for a season.

I honestly can't say which team i'll be rooting for.

Alabama will crush ou IMHO.

So many emotions about Bama - ou & the CFP:

I REALLY don't want the Tide or ou to win... honestly cannot root for either.

I NEVER root for Blow-U!! I hope Bama grinds them into taco meat....and Murray into salsa! After walking back to my car after the CG, it was deja vu all over again....the trashiest & most classless fans in college football. Even my 23yr-old daughter was appalled. Exactly why I stopped going to the RRS years ago.

So, here’s a question to ponder....could Herman win like Saban with the same talent? Or, is Saban the true college football Messiah?
 
I don't understand any Texas fan pulling for ou to win, ever, unless it directly benefits Texas. Since it rarely ever benefits Texas, ou winning any game is, essentially, always bad for Texas.

For Gaw'ds sake, if it isn't bad enough to Texas fans that ou now has 12, count 'em, 12, Big 12 titles and 4 consecutive, winning at least one CFP game would be very detrimental to recruiting.

All-time head to head aside, ou has pwn3d Texas for most of the last 30 years or so. If Murray wins the heisman (won't capitalize it since it's a joke), that will be 4 for them since Ricky.

Flame away, but the only likely reason Texas won 27 SWC titles was that ou was in the Big 8.

F them and the horse they rode in on. Gawdamnit, don't any of you even think of pulling for those got dang dirty *** sooners over bammer.

The thought is uphauling and absurd and does not sit well with me.

Saturday, like probably a lot of y'all, I was rooting for Texas, Georgia, and Northwestern. I started drinking around the 4th quarter of our game vs. ou and of course the day never really got any better. 0 for 3.

Ms. Sapo turned to me on Sunday morning and said, "You know... you're usually great about explaining college football to me but when I asked you last night about how the playoffs would work this year the only thing I could get out of you was 'Alabama vs. Oklahoma giant ******* meteor.'

So, I wonder if the problem here is aggy? Has their unbridled complete lack of self-awareness and their ridiculous coat-tail riding of all things that are Bama/Uga/LSU/UF made us all loathe aggy and the entire SECSECSEC to the point that some of us find ourselves rooting for ousucks? I have to admit, that Alabama's dominance has somewhat ruined college football for me, because it's turned into "who are the 3 teams that'll make the CFP this year, or any year, in addition to the Bama/aggy team?" I would never pull for ou, but I've had enough of the SEC to last a lifetime, so this playoff game might be a first for me. On the other hand, Bama winning would hurt recruiting less than an ou victory might. I'm torn. Can't they both just go away?

Don't want anyone to get hurt but I would love to see Kryler Munchkin running for his life and get slung around like a rag doll by the Bama D.
I'm thinking it could be something like a 35-14 game where Saban calls off the dogs early to rest his starters and protect his gimpy qb before they have to play a REAL defense like Clemson.

Probably some truth to that, but I was tired of hearing the SEC drumbeat before that move ever took place.

i'm not going to hate the whole conference as that validates it. "SEC" is just a conference with some good football teams. nothing to see here. move along. us hating on "SEC" is like the "horns down."

I hear ya, HIC, BUT aren't you tired of hearing how weak the Big 12 is and can't hang with the SEC and we play zero defense and blah blah blah?

I bleed orange but I can't 100% hate OU for winning. I mean, that's the whole idea isn't it? And West Virginia and TCU and company are not going to go to these big games and win/compete, so it's us or the Sooners. So why not sort of cheer them on? We're a couple of recruiting classes away from being competitive on the national stage again, and then we'll really show OU and the country what Texas football is all about. But while we're on our way, couldn't we be just a little conference proud? Please don't ban me from the boards......

No. I couldn't care less. To be fair, I am in the Chicago area, but when I was in Texas, I didn't care what aggies or sooners thought or said.

Your point of recruiting has nothing to do with the conference. When ou wins, they get our recruits. ou winning is never good for Texas.

Point taken. For what it's worth I want us to win the Sugar Bowl as well and think it'll be good for Texas and the Big 12 to show our quality.
