Just a heads-up about this game tonight. Davidson is ranked #21, so they will be a good early-season test for the Sooners.

In the first 2 games, Blake has been a manimal, even moreso than in '07. He has been schooling folks, albeit against outmanned competition.

When does Texas play again?

We play tonight against Tulane at 7:00 pm. If we get up big enough (which I assume), I will leave early and try to catch the OU game. I am more interested in it than NC vs. Kentucky. I watched the first half of the OU game last night. Griffin was again impressive, but I still think OU's guard play will hold them back. I assume Warren will get better, but he did not shoot well in the first half. They either need a reliable outside shooter to keep people off of Griffin or a penetrating PG.

I just saw an Okie doing Horns Down. Solid versus Davidson. Is it because Texas played Davidson in a scrimmage?

this has been a great game..Davidson down something like 20 in the 2nd half, only down 3 now. Curry just set a career high with 42 pts.

didn't we scrimmage them again this year? any inside info on how that turned out?

Imagine if Curry didnt have scrubs like Lovedale and Barr on his team missing every shot they took. Pathetic.

This is a good win for OU against a quality opponent. I wasn't able to make it up from Dallas for the game, and now I am really kicking myself. Curry is just a special player and I don't know if I will get another chance to see him. No matter who you are a fan of, you need to go out and see this kid play if he has a game in your area.....absolutely unreal.

Curry makes it rain 3's. Griffin is a horse. Jeez. Willie Warren looks legit, too.

OU is going to be handful this year.

Good game, though.

too much star treatment from the refs in the 2nd half for both sides, but a good game nonetheless.

Griffin showing his true colors at the end of the game after that dunk, could hear him saying "**** stephen curry" at the end of the game. What a punk.

I remain concerned about OU's lack of a true point guard. They need Tommy Mason-Griffin on this team. The idea that Willie Warren was ever going to be a PG was ludicrous.

I love Blake Griffin, though. Heck, I liked him last year, and he looks even better this season.

So early in the season, at this point I think OU is going to have more problems with UT's defensive pressure on the perimeter than UT will have inside with Blake Griffin.

However, poor free throw shooting looks like it can level things out with any number of opponents over the course of the year.

Fun game.

I saw the game. ou is a one man team. stop griffin and you stop ou. warren is okay but not a significant upgrade over what they had last year.

SL, I don't know how much of the game you got to watch, but Austin Johnson got in early foul trouble, so the 1st half PG duties were shared between Warren and Leary. Despite turning the ball over a few times, Warren played fairly well at the point. He gives us a dimension that we haven't had since Hollis Price/Quannas White and to some extent Terrell Everett....the ability to drive and finish/dish to the open shooter. However, I do agree with you that I don't want him as our full-time PG.

Austin Johnson does a serviceable job at PG and he gets the most out of his talent. Unfortunately, there isn't alot of talent to begin with when it comes to AJ. Mason-Griffin will provide athleticism and the ability to breakdown a defense that AJ doesn't really possess. So yes, he can't get here quick enough.

TMG will do more than that. He's REALLY REALLY strong with the ball. When he dribbles, it's as if he's trying to pound a hole in the floor. Combine that with his low center of gravity, and it's tough to take the ball away from him.

He sees the floor really well. Austin Johnson has always been more of a caretaker at the point. TMG, on the other hand, sees plays as they're developing. It's been so long since OU has had a true point guard, the difference is going to be night and day.

Warren can drive and dish, but he's better off doing that from the off guard position. As a PG, he's not going to be strong enough with the ball, and the offense will have even less offensive flow than it will otherwise (and offensive flow is not going to be a Sooner strength, IMO). There's simply no good fit right now. I think Capel made a big mistake when he entered the Jai Lucas sweepstakes, when he could have had Roberson (who is now at Tech). Not that Roberson is some kind of phenom necessarily, but he was just as good as Lucas (at the least), and he would have given OU a true point guard on the roster. I thought it was a recruiting mistake at the time, and said so, and I can't help but think about it whenever I watch OU play.

I do like OU's talent. The Griffin brothers play well together. Both Austin Johnson and Tony Crocker are medium to high level Big 12 players. Willie Warren is obviously a stud. Around them there are some good role players. Blake Griffin is the best player in the conference (I thought so last year, too, although injuries limited him).

That was a terrific game, and a lot of fun to watch. I look forward to seeing what OU can do in New York. Great exposure for the Sooner basketball program and the Big 12, not to mention good preparation for the upcoming conference race.

If I was a Sooner fan I'd be excited about the possibilities. They don't look like a Final Four type team to me, but it's early in the season, and who knows what happens when the tournament starts, in terms of matchups and upsets? They certainly look like a contender for the conference race, and whoever wins the conference should end up with a really good seed.

Thanks to OUEngineer and Stormspencer for posting over here. I always welcome your thoughts on your team. Salt City Sooner as well.

"Griffin showing his true colors at the end of the game after that dunk, could hear him saying "**** stephen curry" at the end of the game. What a punk. "

Did he really say that? If he did, then he is clearly a jackass...even by OU's high standards.

If you didn't see it why are you trying to make something out of it?

Blake had a breakway dunk just after time expired. As he turned around an OU player came up to high 5 him. At that point he in a half exhale/half fired up he says "**** blah blah blah" (it is really hard to tell - it was one of the handheld cameras they have underneath the basket) and he is smiling when he said it. It was more of "we finally beat these guys cause they wouldn't die" type statement. It was not said anywhere near a Davidson player or coach.

He then jogged over and got in line and started shaking hands w/ the Davidson players.

It did not appear to be meant as disrespectful at all. More a sign of relief.
