OU @ 11:00?

Is it just me or does anybody think playing this game at 11:00 is giving short shrift to the Big XII marquee game of the year? As a Big XII fan I'd much rather watch this game at 7:00. 11:00 is like the undercard. Boo, I say, Boo.

Playing it during the early afternoon at the Texas State Fair is part of the reason this game is so awesome. The time is fine.

The problem is that there is always an East coast game (probably SEC) going on that is just as big (to other folks). That game can't kick off at 11am EST, it needs to go at 2:30. In addition, I don't think anybody that actually goes to the game has any desire to play a night game in fair park. Just not a good idea.

Boo is right. It is a crime IMO this game is at 11:00 for a number of reasons. It should be played at 2:30 every year, but I know the networks decide. As far as I know, back through the 60's, this game has never been played at night. Not sure why that is, but I can safely say Fair Park and the surrounding area is not a good place to be walking or wandering around after dark.

By next years RRS the DART Rail is going to open a station at the fairgrounds. You could park at a Park and Ride station anywhere up the I-75 corridor and get to and from the game for 2 or 3 bucks.

Seems like that would be a viable alternative to sketchy yard parking for a night game.

ABC switched their national time slot to 11:00 AM and made 2:30 regional several years back-- that's when this game started being played (occasionally) at 11:00 AM. In previous years, Florida State - Miami was on the same weekend, and often won the 11 AM national slot, which relegated us to 2:30 regional in those cases.

Personally, I like both time slots, I'll be getting to the State Fair as soon as the gates open in either case, going straight to the Coupon booth, and then immediately for some 5-coupon wax cup beer and some Fletcher's corny dogs, which to me is the best breakfast in the world.

I'd be okay with a night game, I usually hang around the Fair well past dark and have never had any problems, but as stated above, I don't think either university would ever go for a night game.

To me, the awesomeness of Texas-OU in primetime outweighs any safety concerns. I have had to look for my truck in the neighborhood alone, at dusk. Just bring in more security.

FWIW, I would pay $1000 to see this game at night. It would be beyond electric.

I am with Pete on this one - I would love to see this game at night - prime time. It probably won't happen, but indeed it would be electric

As long as the RRS is played in the Cotton Bowl, it will never be a night game. It never has been and it never will be. As far as the "electricity" gets, the only way to add to it is to add more seats in the stadium. It can't get any more electric than it already is. The concept of electricity in a stadium always has some sort of ceiling. The RRS always hits that ceiling.

I'm okay with 2:30. But football in the morning is a ******* crime. I don't want to get to the state fair at 8 in the morning and be drunk at 10. Well, yes I do, but I'd rather it be later.

The ADs don't decide whether it's a night game, and neither does ABC or any network.

The State Fair Board controls when the game will be played, and they've mandated that Texas / OU won't be played at night.

The thing that sucks about the 11am game time is now if I want to beat the traffic I have to wake up at like 4 in the morning.

it should be 2:30 every year. it would be great at night and yes it would be a bit interesting in the post-game but it would be the allsome.

People have to walk back to their car at night after a 2:30 kickoff, too, and I haven't heard about all these muggings people seem to think would happen w/ a night game.

We seem to have some real minority-phobes in our fan base.
