Four possessions--got the ball to Pittman in scoring position twice. Once he gets away with elbowing Page (Page?). Second time he gets fouled and hits one of two.
Two three-pointers so far, plus a dunk and an offensive rebound and follow for OSU to have a one point lead. James with 6 points on a great turnaround, a very smooth 18 footer, and a follow after getting the loose ball after Mason keeps a rebound alive.
Brown is moving defensively. That's a good sign. He didn't keep up with anyone that last possession. That wasn't a good sign, but he did have to chase through two screens, so I won't fault him for that last basket by Page.
Texas is not staying with outside shooters. OSU now 4-6 from 3 point range. Texas is also not closing off the defensive glass. OSU has 3 offensive rebounds. Texas has one defensive rebound.
OSU is not a good offensive rebounding team. They tend to be very good on the defensive end because they pack the defense in, but TExas needs to get to it on the boards.
The problem witn Pittman on that play was that he didn't look for anyone outside. He took the pass 6 feet at most from the basket, with four defenders around him, and he only looked for a cutter under the basket.
That's not happening, Dexter. There's no room there. Look for Hamilton or Lucas to shoot in that instance.
Uh-oh, there are signs that Hamilton is going to on a solo mission. He has two very comfortable three pointers, one very ill advised and rushed shot and now a forced drive in which he was lucky to get a whistle for a foul on a defender. I hope this isn't a sign that he is taking off all restraints.
Nice sequence in which Texas forces a 35 second violation with OSU never having a look at a shot, Avery faking Page out of his jock but short arming the shot, then another OSU possession with the shot clock eaten to nearly nothing before a drive, collapse, and block leading to a Texas possession with Pittman getting an offensive rebound and doing a 360 turn dance dunk.
I have only been able to watch since a few minutes of game time before the half, but my first impressions are that I haven't seen the Horns play this level of team defense in weeks.
