Orlando Golf Villas

Our tailgate group includes golfers, and we are thinking about turning our UCF trip this fall into a golf trip as well. There is a barrage of confusing information on the web about Orlando golf villas/condos, so I was wondering if anyone here had experience in this regard. Ideally, we could all stay in one unit that sleeps 8-10, but we could always split up into a couple of two or three bedroom units. I know Disney has some fabulous courses, but the information on their site seems to be referencing their on-property hotels only.

Any advice will be appreciated.

it depends on the type of group you have and the experience you are interested in. if you want resort type accomodations, check out the grand cyress resort grandcypress they have very nice villas, 3 golf courses, and good location. if your group prefers straight up golf and no frills lodging, i would recommend orange county national orangecounty they have a small hotel (no villas) but 2 of the best golf courses in the state (pga q school finals are here). orange county has the best practice facility you will ever see, and i'm sure they have package deals.

those are my top 2 recommendations. other possibilities could be stay/play at bay hill, or at ritz carlton grande lakes, both expensive. as far as disney goes, lots of lodging there. i personally don't care much for their courses, but i do like osprey ridge, best of the 5.

from what I've heard Orlando golf is really overpriced. there might be other reasons you'd go to Orlando, but I don't really consider it a golf trip destination.

Thanks, guys. Good suggestions.

Of course, the real reason we are going is to help inaugurate UCF's new stadium with a 'Horns victory. All of our group has long ago done all of the tourist things Orlando is famous for with the kids, and even grandkids in one instance, so we were looking for something different to do. Golf in Florida seemed like a natural. Because Orlando is such a tourist mecca, I had assumed golf would be way overpriced. I'm going to check out BigUp's suggested websites, but I'm also wondering if you drew concentric circles around Orlando how far out you might have to go to find reasonably priced golf. We're not averse to traveling a few miles.

Thanks, again.

there are over 100 golf courses in the orlando area. most of them have Florida resident rates and then out of state rates. so yes, i understand the overpriced comment, that can be true at certain times of the year. my parents have lived in orlando for 10 years and i know the golf scene there pretty well. i would start your search with orange county national. call them and explain what you'd like to do, and see what they can offer. they have 2 outstanding courses. from a quick search of their website, they have stay and play packages that look pretty decent. the lodging is basic, nothing fancy, but it's fairly new.

I was confused I thought the game was in Tampa and not Orlando and was thinking you'd be going to Orlando just for golf. I have to study up on my FL directional schools.
