I was able to purchase a brand new previous generation (late 2009) Mac mini. I got it for $549 shipped after taxes. It is the model with 4gb DDR3 and a 320 GB hard drive. I know those are paltry for a desktop, these days. I am not a gamer. I use a computer for work, home finances/organization, web browsing, and e-mail. The computer will also be used for Netflix and Hulu.
Questions:
Is this a good/great deal on this system? I have 30 days to return if not. Also, can you recommend a system as good or better at that price point (preferably easy to als use as a Hackintosh)?
I was thinking of installing Windows under Boot Camp to retain my Office 2007 Pro suite. I have not heard good things about Office for Mac. Is this a good idea? Why or why not?
Regarding installing Windows, would I be able to use the license and install disk from an older Dell desktop that died? Because the install disk is not SP3, would I still be able to update with downoads from Microsoft since they only support SP3 now? Would I be able to use that license to buy Windows 7 at upgrade price to install on the Mac? If so, whichversion of Windows 7 is recommended?
Thanks in advance
