It's here!

The Rangers open tomorrow at The Ballpark against the Blue Jays. Wish I could go, but I'll be on an airplane for a company trip - yeh, I know, very poor planning on my part. Guess I'll have to leave it to the staunch Ranger zealots to cheer hard enough to make up for my absence. WorsterMan, Texanne, 69, HiD, and all the rest of you - there is hope for the Rangers this season! You guys get it through Wednesday, and I'll be back here to join in on Thursday.

Wonder if we should earmark some money for World Series tickets this Fall?

It appears the same anemic hitting team from 2009 has returned. Ugh. Marcum tossing a no-no into the bottom of 7th.

We spark a rally and score 3 on Nellie's homer, only to see Feliz blow it in the top of the 8th.

Oliver comes on and strands the bases loaded. Still got a chance, at least.

Bottom of 8th - 4-3 bad guys.

I was working and could only check the score on line but I will take the win, ugly or not!!!

GO RANGERS

Guys, Shadowdancer and I were at the game, and never fear -- we pulled the Good Guys through!

Yesterday, Josh Hamilton said that Nolan's prediction of 92 wins was ********.

Josh predicted 94!

I thought the Rangers played very well. It took them 6 innings to get going, but in the meantime Feldman was outstanding, except for 2 pitches, and Darren Oliver saved their bacon.

Hook'em!!!

Texanne I am glad you and SD were at the opener today... Horn69 & Ms. may have been there also.... anyway, great job getting the vickery today. I hope ya'll ate a dawg or two and drank some ballpark brews for the rest of us zealots!

It was our 16th straight home opener. And it was a good day! I figured it would take a couple of times through the order before the Rangers started hitting. And Nellie's home run looked like he just kind of threw his bat at it!

No ballpark dogs, but I did drink a most excellent Rahr & Sons Red Ale, and we both ate super nachos that were actually pretty good.

They're still selling those terrible Sheriff Blaylock dogs, so I probably will not be eating any dogs anytime soon ...

My post-game observations.

We need Kinsler back, badly. Blanco is a severe downgrade.

Feldman continues to impress w/his savvy and all-around ability to simply 'get the job done.' To start out so poorly and still go 7.0 innings is a real good outing.

Cruz may hit 40 dingers this year.

Vlad is not so bad anymore, but if he can hit .280 and clock 20HR, I guess he'll be a nice signing.

Feliz is a work-in-progress, obviously. He reminds me of guys before who've had amazing arms, but little in the way of knowing 'how to pitch.' Hoping it locks in soon, b/c he'll be back in AAA with many more outing like that.

Great win to kick-off 2010. Only 89 more to go to meet my prediction.

Yeah, Vlad ... all those years he just KILLED the Rangers, and I bet he doesn't hit even 15 homers FOR us now.

*sigh*

Oh ye of little faith! OMG, I've never heard such pessimism on Opening Day - and a comeback, walk-off win at that. Eeks. I realize everyone's been having to watch Longhorn basketball, but still...

Best play of the day was Cruz's one-foot swing to opposite field homerun. Reminded me of Dirk's jumpshot.

Hook'em!!!
