The "aircraft carrier killer" hit the ship killing the Captain and injuring other crew. It didn't detonate but rather traveled through the boat. Life imitating art? From the article I can't tell whether China is upset or not but they seem most interested in ensuring the deceased Captain's family is compensated appropriately. They may be more capitalist than we realized.

Doh..Cactus Café or West Mall? I intended to post this on West Mall but there are plenty of jokes in this affair to be had too.

It's unsurprising the missile didn't explode. In the Battle off Samar when outmatched Taffy 3 took on the cream of Japanese heavy warships, the fighting strength of the dauntless little battle group was extended because Japanese shells designed to penetrate armor and explode just passed through the little ships.

So, the missile wasn't triggered because the boat the missile went through (like butter?) didn't give enough resistance?

That's what happened in World War II. Sadly enough, I have no relevant knowledge of modern naval weapons.
