Only Rich Can Vote

I think this guy is wrong, but not totally off base. Everybody's vote should count equally, but I think voting should be limited to those who actually pay taxes. Flame away.

Interesting. Depending on what taxes you include, you may not end up disenfranchising many people. Almost everybody pays FICA taxes.

Also, the 24th Amendment probably kills this idea.

I always viewed the 24th amendment to be paying at the poll. Interesting application which I do think applies.

I do not agree that the rich should get more votes, but I absolutely agree that net takers should forfeit their vote. No taxation without representation works both ways.

Voting is voluntary. Some may be cheered to learn that the poor, uneducated and Latino disproportionately don't vote.

Not a huge gap at any level, but the democrats have the low and the high end.

18-to-29-Year-Old-Voter-Turnout-by-Race-and.jpg

One thing that is consistent across all races is that people that dont go to college are much less likely to show up at the polls. This graphic only shows 18-29 year olds but it is similar for older Americans, although higher percentages of old people show up. Trends are similar when it comes to income levels. The more a person makes, the more likely they are to vote.

As for demographic differences btw parties, I wonder who gets a better eduction btw the inner city kids or the rural country kids? I feel like I have more in common with rural citizens, but I associate much more with urban kids because I live and work in the city.

As far as broad statistical measures, the income level of the parent can pretty much predict everything. Urban vs rural, govt spending on the school, race, gender, and everything else doesnt seem to matter. Obviously individual circumstances vary greatly.

Nearly everyone is paying a tax of some kind, whether it be federal, state or local taxes. Afterall, even in states that don't have a sales tax they get hit up for taxes in 100 different ways.

This is a dumb and arrogant argument that actually contradicts the inference of "educated" voters being advanced by some on this thread.

Naive liberal view. I would never argue for the rich exclusively voting, but voters should have a stake in what they are voting for other than handouts. Why not just let Canadians and Mexicans vote since they are connected by our borders? Oh wait, democrats already want that...

Now the democrat senator from Oregon wants to give a $500 bank account to all newborns. Santa never rests. More beads and trinkets for the low information parasitic voters.

"You don't get to vote unless you pay a dollar of taxes."

So we just need to show a Whataburger receipt where we paid $1 of sales tax on a $12.12 purchase. Big whoop.

Ah, the lure of the aristocracy. Why don't we just switch to primogeniture to select our future leaders?
Or do you want to retain a token vote by the politburo for appearance sake?
