Online Defensive Driving

And take a long time. I did it in 2007 and am going to have to do it again, because I got a ticket today.

I've taken a couple of them, and they suck.

I'd rather rent a video or attend one in person.

When you do it online, they set a "timer" on each page, so you can't click to the next page for a couple minutes. Trouble is, you're never looking at the timer (or the page) when time is up, so you actually spend MUCH more time completing it compared to other methods.

I think it has changed quite a bit Horn89. I just did a course from defensivedriving.com a week ago, and it was all online video. $25 was the total cost.

You start each one of six videos, let it run (~1 hour each), and then answer a serious of ridiculously easy questions. There is no "next" buttons to push to keep track of during each of the six hour sessions, you could literally just let the video run and go mow the lawn, taking mowing breaks to take the exams and start the next section. Occasionally the test will ask a question specifically about the video itself, not about safe driving (e.g., what color was the guy's shirt). I'm serious, the tests are so ridiculously easy aside from these trick questions, you do not need to watch the videos to pass them. One of the questions was something to the effect of "what helps you get sober?" and the choices were a.)coffee, b.)greasy hamburgers c.) time

I think I could have scored a 90 or above without even watching the videos at all.

I've taken an online one twice in the past year

and it was not too bad. I did a comedy one, and other than lame jokes....

I have taken the I Drive Safely course a couple of times. Most of the portions are pretty easy, but they do make you watch it or at least interact with it periodically. It also takes at least 6 hours to finish.

I need to take one, but I doubt I can find 6 straight hours to finish. Can you take these online courses in parts?

I would do a course during football season. Have the course going during the game, let it do it's timer/movie/whatever while play is on, answer the questions during timeouts. Two ball games and you're done.

I did my last one during a snow day a few years ago, a friend of mine did one whilst getting drunk. You can also try a straight up copy and paste of the questions into a google search. There are websites out there that catalog all the questions and answers.

Same way. Self paced and you can pause the tape. Answer questions after each lesson. Some questions refer to things in the taped lesson which you are supposed to be watching. Nothing difficult.

I just requested deferred disposition and paid the fine. Of course, I'll need to watch my a$$ until June 7, but at least I'll be in the clear.
