One very excellent national security Trend

I read this WSJ article today with great interest.

No reliance on ME Oil Supplies

We are pretty unanimous as a country that our reliance on unstable ME despots for our energy supplies is a bad thing and one of our more serious national security concerns. It is a great thing if this article's forecasts play out. Anyone familiar enough with the article's content to help me stay excited?

The irony is.....less reliance on ME oil means less of a presence in the region. Contrary to prevailing wisdom, the ME will actually become less stable as a result. A good trade nonetheless.

Sorry, I think this is wishful thinking. I would like to see some future production data, curves, critical analyses of existing daily demand, future daily demand, and where the oil is going to come from on this side of the planet to totally eliminate all ME oil by 2035, etc.. to back up this claim.

I don't get how it matters. Oil is a global commodity and prices are set globally. Even if we get our oil from Canada, the US and S. America, if the Middle East breaks down into chaos, our prices will rise. This is because as the world supply of oil decreases and demand stays the same (or increases), prices will rise.

We don't have a one world government, but if oil supplies to our allies and economic partners in Japan, south Asia and Western Europe are interrupted, it will be a very big deal here.
