One Trip to Utah Produced THIS?

It's amazing the turnaround this team has made. Granted, the chemistry and talent level seems much improved.

That said, Barnes has really shown me something. I can't recall a Texas team that exhibits the type of patience the do on offense, always looking to pass, creating the best shot, every time down the court.

Barnes' ability to adapt so quickly to whatever he learned in Utah, and implement his plan so quickly has just been remarkable.

Really enjoying watching this team and hoping they stay healthy for a deep run in the tourney. Hook 'Em!

This has been the one item that has impressed me beyond belief: We actually have an offense with ball screens and movement for the entire 30 second set. My biggest complaint about Rick Barnes in the past has been a stagnant offense. Not this season. It's much more fun to watch this team play and I would feel that way even if they had lost a few more along the way.

I agree. It shows that the coaching staff is putting efforts to make adjustments for the talents and skill sets we have.

Case in point: Once the ball reaches the 3-point arc, Balbay no longer runs the offense. If he did, the opposing defense would sag away from him daring him to shoot and crowd the middle taking away driving lanes and making TT less effective. Now, Joseph runs the offense, and Balbay is looking to rebound. This small change keeps the defense honest and makes good use of Balbay's quickness.

If I'm not mistaken, this change happened recently maybe four or five games ago.

The best coaches reach out to their brethren when things go wrong or when they think they need to get better as coaches. This is one of the qualities of the "best" coaches, IMO.

This also confirms that it wasn't lack of senior leadership or selfish play. We've put in a system that leads to open, less contested shots and we're hitting them. I think it's that simple.

We're getting respect from opponents and their fans, purists appreciate our game, and we're taking the high road as a team and as fans for the most part. I mean, when's the last time we even reacted to getting a foul called on us.

So, no, it wasn't "just" a trip to Utah, the man they call Rick Barnes charted our destiny!
