Onboard Sound, weird prob

OK, just replaced my mobo, cpu and I now have onboard audio on the abit kv7. I don't need anything special so this will work fine, however there is a strange problem. Whenever my computer is shut down and restarted my audio doesn't immedietely work - I have to go into control panel, "sounds" or whatever, then click on MUTE, then unclick mute, then it works fine. Weird, huh? This happens every time. Suggestions?

First thing I would try is to go to your device manager and uninstall all your sound stuff. Let it find it and reinstall it when the computer reboots. If that doesn't work, you may see if Windows Update finds an updated driver for it or maybe go out and look for one yourself by searching for the model motherboard you have. Those are probably the two easiest things to try.

Update your drivers.

I have my Tivo hooked up to Line In on my computer (also onboard sound), and whenever I rebooted the computer it would always forget that Line In was muted before. Not much of a problem, except that the volume level it defaulted to for Line in was REALLY REALLY LOUD. Made for some pretty startling nights when my computer rebooted itself after running Windows Update at 3am. When I updated my drivers, it started working fine.

Next on my computer list: SoundBlaster card.
